For Immediate Release – May 26, 2009 Dallas Attorney Dan Sheehan Leads Another Successful Texas Irish American Cup Challenge DALLAS – Dallas attorney Daniel Sheehan, chairman of the 12th Annual Texas Irish American Cup Challenge, is pleased to announce that this year’s golf tournament and auction raised nearly $150,000 for local and international charities. The May 18, 2009, golf tournament featured 22 golfers from Ireland and 108 from the U.S., all teeing off to support the American Ireland Fund. The AIF supports programs of peace, reconciliation, arts, culture, education and community development throughout Ireland. This year’s event also benefited Dallas’ Our Friends’ Place, a group dedicated to helping local girls and young women overcome histories of abuse, abandonment and neglect. Proceeds from the tournament will help Our Friends’ Place’s new transitional living center, Pauline’s Place, which is named for Ireland native Sister Pauline Mullen, who devoted her life to working with troubled young women. "We played some good golf, made some great friends and were able to raise money for two wonderful organizations,” says Mr. Sheehan, founder of Dallas’ Daniel Sheehan & Associates. "I am proud to support the much-needed work of the American Ireland Fund and Our Friends’ Place, and was honored to serve as chairman of this year’s event." Noted golf broadcaster and former PGA Tour professional David Feherty served as the announcer on the 18th hole of the tournament, held at Dallas’ Northwood Country Club. The day’s festivities concluded with an auction and dinner, including keynote speaker Kingsley Aikins, CEO of the Ireland Funds Worldwide. Mr. Sheehan is Board Certified in Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
